Greetings from Rocking Horse Arabians!
This year started off with some sadness in that Kyra, my endurance partner and friend of 8 years was to help me with my goal to campaign Corinthian in endurance for 2007. I set a schedule of a ride a month with Corinthian riding every other day and Kyra riding back-up on the in-between days. However, Kyra sustained a slight suspensory injury so Corinthian and I were forced to set off for the rides alone. February we started our year with Eastern Mojave, which was a great ride with which to start. We had plenty of room at base camp and there were not too many riders so he settled into the grove really well. We did the first and third day and had a great time even though the weather turned cold and icy. Next, we traveled to New Mexico for the Renegade Pioneer. first and third days. Again the base camp was spread out and there were not too many riders so he had another great experience. Then we headed to Color Country in Utah right at the start of breeding season but by this time I was confident in my horse and knew he associated the rides with work not breeding and hurrah, I was right. He settled right in and did his job like a pro. He again completed two days and once again we headed home. May sent us to Mount Carmel where again we had a terrific time and he completed two days. By this time Corinthian totally got the drill, loved his new job and I have started to relax with him. We just returned from Strawberry Fields in central Utah, which was truly a lovely ride. Mostly single track trails winding up and down and around through the Unita National Forest. The food was great, the camp was beautiful and there was plenty of water.
